Back-Swap™ Privacy Policy
Last Updated: October 11, 2026
Your Privacy Matters: Back-Swap™ is designed with privacy at its core. All background removal and photo processing happens entirely on your device. We never upload, store, or share your photos on external servers.
1. Introduction
Innovative Graphics, Inc. ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the Back-Swap™ mobile application ("the App").
Back-Swap™ lets you remove backgrounds from photos and replace them with new backgrounds — using your own photos, stock images, or AI-generated scenes. All core photo processing is performed locally on your device using Apple's Vision framework.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
We may collect the following information when you use the App:
- Apple ID: Used for subscription management through Apple's App Store (handled entirely by Apple; not stored by us)
- Support Communications: Information you provide when contacting our support team
- App Preferences: Your settings and preferences within the App (stored locally on your device)
2.2 Photo Access
Your photos are never uploaded to our servers. The App requires access to your Photos library to provide its core functionality:
- Selecting photos whose backgrounds you want to remove or replace
- Saving edited photos back to your Photos library
- Browsing your library to choose replacement backgrounds from your own photos
All background removal processing occurs locally on your device using Apple's Vision framework. Your photos are never sent to our servers or any third-party AI service.
2.3 Automatic Information Collection
The App relies on Apple's built-in platform diagnostics. We do not integrate any third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. Through Apple's standard iOS mechanisms (subject to your iOS privacy settings and consent):
- Crash Reports: Anonymized crash logs may be shared with us via Apple's crash reporting infrastructure if you have opted in to sharing diagnostics with app developers in your iOS Settings
- App Store Analytics: Aggregate, anonymized usage metrics (e.g., number of sessions, feature usage counts) may be provided by Apple through App Store Connect analytics — no individual user is identifiable from this data
You can control diagnostic sharing at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvementson your device.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide the App: Enable core functionality including background removal, replacement, and saving
- Process Subscriptions: Manage your subscription status through Apple's App Store
- Improve the App: Analyze anonymized crash reports to fix bugs and improve stability
- Customer Support: Respond to your questions and provide assistance
- Communications: Send you important updates about the App via the in-app Developer Messages feature (only when necessary)
- Comply with Legal Obligations: Respond to legal requests and prevent fraud
4. Stock Background Photos (Unsplash™)
Back-Swap™ offers curated stock background photos provided by Unsplash. When you search for or browse stock backgrounds:
- Search queries are sent to Unsplash's API to retrieve matching photos
- Your own photos are never sent to Unsplash — only your search terms are transmitted
- Unsplash may log requests in accordance with their own privacy policy
- Subject to Unsplash's Privacy Policy
You can use Back-Swap entirely with your own photos or camera without ever using the Unsplash stock photo feature.
5. Data Storage and Security
5.1 Local Storage
All of your data is stored locally on your device:
- App preferences and settings
- Edited and processed photos (saved to your Photos library)
- All original photos remain in your Photos library under your control
- In-app Developer Messages are cached locally after being fetched from Apple's CloudKit servers
5.2 Security Measures
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:
- All data transmissions (e.g., Unsplash stock photo requests, CloudKit Developer Messages) use encryption (HTTPS/TLS)
- Local data is protected by iOS security features
- No third-party service has access to your photo library
6. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services:
6.1 Apple App Store & StoreKit
- Subscription management and in-app purchases
- Subject to Apple's Privacy Policy
6.2 Unsplash
- Provides stock background photos available within the App
- Search queries are transmitted to Unsplash's API when you search for stock backgrounds
- Your personal photos are never shared with Unsplash
- Subject to Unsplash's Privacy Policy
6.3 Apple Intelligence / Image Playground (Optional)
- Used to generate AI background images when you use the AI Background feature
- Requires a compatible device with Apple Intelligence enabled (iPhone 15 Pro or later, or iPad with M1 chip or later, running iOS 18.2 or later)
- All generation is performed on-device by Apple's frameworks
- Subject to Apple's Privacy Policy
6.4 Apple CloudKit (Developer Messages)
- The App fetches in-app announcements and update notices from Apple's CloudKit infrastructure using a read-only public database
- No iCloud sign-in is required — the public database is world-readable
- No personal data or photos are transmitted; only a standard HTTPS request to Apple's CloudKit servers is made
- Apple's servers may log standard network metadata (e.g., IP address) per Apple's data practices
- Subject to Apple's Privacy Policy
We do not use third-party analytics, advertising networks, or tracking services.
7. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties, except in the following limited circumstances:
